Clinical Pathways are informed by evidence based practise, reduce variability in clinical practise, and assist in managing health care quality.  Clinical Pathways provide a formal framework for service providers and clients to successfully navigate the service system and identify the most appropriate service options, and anticipated outcomes.  Clinical Pathways typically include treatment protocols and activities that span the service continuum, such as screening, assessments, prioritization, treatment planning, admission and discharge criteria.  Clinical Pathways are often conveyed through service process maps, Algorithms, decision trees, treatment protocols and service criteria.
